Dr Mark Gorbatov

Dr Mark Gorbatov trained to be an ophthalmologist at Sydney Eye Hospital, having obtained his medical qualifications from the University of Sydney. He was the recipient of the University Medal. Further training in retinal diseases was undertaken at the Lions Eye Institute in Perth and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom. He is currently a member of the Retinal Unit at Sydney Eye Hospital.

As a vitreoretinal surgeon, Dr Gorbatov performs surgery for retinal detachment, vitreous haemorrhage, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, diabetic retinopathy and related disorders. He has special interests in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) including the new injectable medications, and many diagnostic technologies such as optical coherence tomography (OCT). Dr Gorbatov performs intravitreal injections at Met West Surgical.

Dr Dov Hersh

Dr Dov Hersh is a highly qualified, professional and caring ophthalmologist with sub-specialty training in medical retina.After completing specialist qualification in Australia (FRANZCO), Dr Hersh undertook a further 2.5 years of sub-specialty training in medical retina at two of Europe’s premiere eye institutions, Bristol Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. During his fellowship Dr Hersh trained with pioneers in the field. He is particularly interested in the management of macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal vein occlusions. Dr Hersh is also fellowship trained in comprehensive oculoplastics.

Having been an investigator in multiple phase II/III multi-national clinical trials studying new treatments, Dr Hersh keeps up-to-date with the latest advances. Similarly, he has published research papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented lectures in Australia and internationally.

Prior to his medical career Dov gained a B.Com, specialising in IT. As a medical student he established telemedicine projects in developing countries. In recognition of his effort Dr Hersh was nominated by colleagues and was awarded semi-finalist for young Australian of the Year.

Dr Hersh understands the importance of listening to his patients needs and takes pride in keeping up-to-date with the evidence and latest advances in ophthalmology so he can tailor management to each patient.
